T-Mobile's radical data-usage move

WE’RE #4—WE TRY HARDER”: In an effort to lure new subscribers, T-Mobile will let customers listen to Pandora, Rhapsody, iHeartRadio, iTunes Radio, Slacker Radio and Spotify without counting it toward their data use, The Wall Street Journal reports. Streaming 30 minutes a day of music would consume about 900 megabytes of data a month, according to T-Mobile's own usage calculator—nearly half the allotment of a typical data plan. The move comes as AT&T and Verizon have retooled their pricing plans to collect more money from their subscribers as data use rises. "Customers don't want us to give them a subscription-based service that we picked," CEO John Legere said of T-Mobile’s wide-open approach, which stands in contrast to AT&T’s hookup with Beats Music and Verizon’s deal with Spotify.
