Tanglewood Leonard Bernstein

HEADS UP: Tanglewood, the famed Massachusetts music festival and summer home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, has revealed a new sculpture of the iconic composer/conductor/pianist Leonard Bernstein, constructed by artist Penelope Jencks (seen above with Bernstein's daughter, Nina Bernstein Simmons, and Tanglewood Artist in Residence John Williams). The unveiling ceremony took place today at the Highwood Manor on Tanglewood's grounds. Bernstein's tribute is the second in a series of sculptures planned for permanent display across the grounds; the other is of composer Aaron Copland. This is the most highbrow thing you will see on this website, ever. (7/28p)
