JODY’S GARLANDS: Wednesday’s rumor is Friday’s reality, as UMG announces the appointment of Jody Gerson as Chairman/CEO of UMPG, making her the lone woman to become Chairman/CEO of a major music publisher, to our knowledge. She replaces Zach Horowitz, who sent out an internal memo just ahead of the press release. “Jody Gerson is simply one of the best music publishers in the business, and we are thrilled that she will be bringing her creativity, savvy and vast experience to UMPG,” said Universal ruler Lucian Grainge. Gerson, who’s considered to be one of publishing’s top creative execs, has been Co-President of Sony/ATV since 2008. Read more here. (8/1a)
