Taylor Swift

SWIFT DEVELOPMENTS: Big Machine's Taylor Swift greeted fans from atop the Empire State Building live on ABC and Yahoo! today, stepping before a "handpicked" studio audience to announce three "big surprises." First came a recording of her new song, "Shake It Off," a propulsive pop ditty written with Max Martin and Shellback, to which Swift and audience danced (it impacts Pop radio this week). Then Swift revealed that new album 1989 is due out 10/27 and played the dance-themed video for "Shake It Off," directed by Mark Romanek (and seen above). The pre-sale is on now at iTunes (where "Shake It Off" has already jumped to #2 on the singles chart) and TaylorSwift.com. Look for explosive and possibly historic developments at Top 40 radio, and read more in our story here. (8/18p)
