A STRANG SHOWING ON A MAJOR PLATT-FORM: Warner/Chappell Music won the Publisher of the Year trophy at the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, and the pubco's writers took 19 Most Performed honors, eight of these going to Lil Wayne (who nabbed Songwriter of the Year). WCM's win follows Publisher of the Year wins at ASCAP's Pop, Country and (for the first time) Rhythm & Soul Music Awards earlier this year. Prexy North America Big Jon Platt called the latest laurel "an enormous accomplishment" for the company, adding that the "slow jam" remix of his remarks would be hella sexy. Chairman/CEO Cameron Strang described the honor as "a tribute to the great talent we have been cultivating throughout WCM, artists and executives alike." The next honor for Strang and Platt to savor: An array of mortifying photos in our forthcoming 28th Anniversary Issue. (8/25a)
