FIRST VIBES OF THE NEW YEAR

The Script, The Secret Sisters and Alpha Rev Enter the Fray
If it’s January, it must be time to feel the Vibe, with three up-and-comers rating HITS’ first official chart of the year for the next crop of breakout artists.

This week, it’s all about a Dublin-based pop group, an old-school country duo from Georgia and a Texas singer-songwriter.

The Script’s sophomore Phonogenic/Epic album, Science & Faith, is the follow-up to their 300k-selling debut, and the track, “For the First Time,” is already scoring adds at Hot Adult and AC, now crossing over to Top 40. The group scored “Posted Artist of the Month” honors at VH1, and have upcoming TV appearances on The Today Show (1/18-19), Letterman (1/18), Regis & Kelly (1/19), Ellen (1/21) and Kimmel (1/24). The new album hits retail this Tuesday (1/18). See the full Vibe entry here.

The Secret Sisters feature siblings Laura and Lydia Rogers, and their self-titled Beladroit/Universal Republic debut was executive produced by Grammy winner T Bone Burnett. The first single, “I’ve Got a Feeling,” is already seeing major action at Triple A and Americana radio. The pair has tour dates scheduled with Loretta Lynn and Amos Lee in the U.S. and Ray LaMontagne in Europe. Look for a PBS Special in March, with a video in production for the next track, “Tennessee Me.” Check out the details here.

Alpha Rev is essentially Texas singer-songwriter Casey McPherson, returning to the chart with a new single, “Phoenix Burn,” the follow-up to the title track from the Hollywood Records album, New Morning. The song is Top 20 at Triple A, with adds at WRLT and WROX, among others, and is featured on VH1’s current edition of Celebrity Rehab. McPherson is currently on a Southern state headlining tour.
