Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E. continues to grow.

The Jive/JLG star parlays a hectic week into a chart-topping debut for his new album, which bows at #1 with 273k, the second-highest total of the year after Adele.

Arista/RMG diva Jennifer Hudson’s I Remember Me also has an impressive first week, with a #2 entry and 163k in sales.

XL/Columbia phenom Adele’s 21 remains the line Top 5 holdover at #3 with 96k, only a 2% drop-off, and a total to date of nearly 850k.

Universal Int’l’s iTunes-only Songs for Japan (#6), Decaydance/FBR/Atlantic’s Panic at the Disco (#7) and Capitol/EMI’s R&B crooner Bobby V (#9) also scored Top 10 bows, with the lone holdovers Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons (#8) and Island/IDJ’s Justin Bieber Never Say Never—The Remixes (#10).

Other Top 50 newcomers include HopelessYellowcard (#13), Reprise’s Green Day live album, the piquantly titled Awesome as Fuck (#18), Warner Bros.Gucci Mane (#21), S-Curve’s Duran Duran (#33), RCA/RMG’s Ke$ha remix album I Am the Dance Commander (#34) and A&M/Octone’s Soundgarden Live on I-5 (#42).

Columbia’s Big Time Rush leads the double-digit gainers (#47-37, +43%), followed by Mercury Nashville’s Sugarland coming off an American Idol spot (#42-39, +24%), Rounder’s banjo-picking comedian Steve Martin (#48, +20%), Capitol/EMI’s Katy Perry (#24, +18%), Island/IDJ’s Bon Jovi (#46, +18%), StroudavariousAaron Lewis (#35, +13%) and Jive/JLG’s R. Kelly (#40, 12%).

Hitting retail today are Jive/JLG’s Britney Spears, Atlantic’s Steeler fan Wiz Khalifa, TBD/RED’s Radiohead physical release, Doggy Style/Priority/EMI’s Snoop Dogg, Columbia’s Mary Mary and Island/IDJ’s Sum 41.
