NEVER LANDS AT #1

Mumford & Sons, Lady Antebellum, Bruno Mars, Eminem, Rihanna, Arcade Fire, Cee Lo Green, Miranda Lambert All Feel Grammy Spikes
It’s Justin Bieber’s world.

We’re just breathing his exhaust fumes. The teen phenom leapfrogs all those impressive Grammy spikes to debut at #1 with his latest Island/IDJ album, Never Say Never—The Remixes, which debuts with 164k in sales.

Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons may have walked away empty-handed from the awards, but the band’s performance of the single “The Cave” catapulted its Sigh No More album to 131k, with a 159% boost, good for #2 and a total of just this side of 950k. For the second Grammy show in a row, Daniel Glass comes out smelling like a rose, after Phoenix nabbed Best Alternative Album last year.

Last week’s chart topper, Capitol/EMI’s Now 37, dips to #3, while the rest of the Top 5 includes two more Grammy spike recipients in Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Lady Antebellum (#16-4, +213%) and New Elektra’s Bruno Mars (#5, +79%).

The rest of the Top 10 is rounded out by Shady/Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem (#6, +57%), Jive/JLG’s 2011 Grammy Nominees (#7, +52%), Island/IDJ’s Bieber My World 2.0 (#8), Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown’s Nicki Minaj (#9) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#10, +24%).

Chart newcomers include Saddle Creek alternative darling Conor Oberst’s Bright Eyes, with its first album in four years, The People’s Key, debuting at #13; Hillsong Christian rock group Hillsong United’s Aftermath (no relation to the Stones album), entering at #17; Notifi/Asylum’s Ginuwine (#31); Heads Up Best New Artist winner Esperanza Spalding (#34) under Gene Rumsey's Concord Music banner, Vagrant’s P.J. Harvey (#43) and ATO’s Drive By Truckers (#46).

Re-entries include Columbia’s Avett Brothers (#39), Island/IDJ’s Bon Jovi Greatest Hits (#42) and Epic’s The Script (#47).

Also posting some big gains are New Elektra’s Cee Lo Green (#49-24, +87%), Cash Money/Universal Motown’s Lil Wayne (#37-19, +73%) and Columbia Nashville’s Miranda Lambert (#34-20, +60%).

Hitting stores this week is Columbia’s Adele. Look for a big #1 debut next week.
