That’s because, in her 46th week on the chart and 15th at #1, Adele is once more the head of the class, adding yet another 123k to a total that is now closing in on a remarkable six million. And with Grammy season well underway, she’s bound to climb even higher. Her debut album, 19, is still selling, coming in at #14.
Her sales were almost three times the nearest competitor, YM/CM/Universal Republic hip-hop star Drake’s Take Care, which chalks up 43k for an eight-week tally of 1.3 million.
Nonesuch’s The Black Keys, with several tracks licensed for commercials from their hit album El Camino, is up to #3, while Def Jam/IDJ’s Young Jeezy (#4) and Rihanna (#5) give label chief Steve Bartels two in the Top 5.
Other chart newcomers include Big Beat DJ and Best New Artist Grammy nominee Skrillex, who enters at #43 with Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites, the forerunner to his Bangarang EP, which is now #15.
Among the Top 50 re-entries include Universal Republic’s Florence + the Machine Lungs album (#31), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift Speak Now (#34), Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Eric Church (#35), Decca’s Andrea Bocelli Concerto: Live in Central Park (#37), New Elektra’s multi-nominated Bruno Mars (#39), RCA Nashville’s Miranda Lambert (#44) and Star Trak/Geffen’s Robin Thicke (#49).
The two albums showing positive growth are Universal Republic’s Amy Winehouse (#31-12, +15%) and Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Luke Bryan (#33-19, +8%).
Hitting stores next Tuesday (1/17) are Razor & Tie’s Kidz Bop 21 and RCA Nashville’s Martina McBride hits collection. Curb’s Tim McGraw, Epic’s Lamb of God, Reprise’s Seal, Amnesty International’s Bob Dylan tribute, Nickelodeon/Columbia’s iCarly soundtrack and
