UMG has promoted
Andrew Kronfeld to the newly created position of President Global Marketing; he’d spent the last two years as EVP International Marketing for
Universal Music Group International. UMGI COO
Max Hole will continue to be his boss, and Kronfeld will continue to split his time between New York and London. Aside from his standard duties, he also has responsibility for
Cooperative Music, UMG’s alternative international licensing organization, and for the development of rock label
Spinefarm.
Said UMG ruler Lucian Grainge: “Today’s music and entertainment business is simply a worldwide environment. Talent and technology crosses borders with greater reach and speed than ever. Andrew’s appointment is another important step in the alignment of our operations into global responsibilities, and there is no one better to lead this evolution in our marketing firepower.”
Commented Hole: “With 20 years’ experience at Universal Music, Andrew is clearly one of our most accomplished, far-sighted music executives. I have worked with him for much of that time, as he has played a key role in the international careers of many of our top artists. Andrew knows better than anyone the results to be achieved by thinking and acting globally.”
Added Kronfeld: "I am incredibly thankful to have this opportunity, and to help shape new ways of connecting music to audiences. The environment that Lucian and Max are creating for our artists and executives around the world is unmatched in the industry, and I am really excited about being part of the team."
Kronfeld, who joined UMG in 1991, has held marketing and senior management posts at Island and Universal Motown as well as UMGI.
