With a nod to Oprah, Reprise heartthrob crooner Michael Buble’s Crazy Love lands at #1 on the HITS Album sales chart, with a one-week total of 140k.
That’s enough to catapult him past KISS’ Wal-Mart exclusive Sonic Boom, which cracks the century mark at 104k, good for #2, the highest chart debut ever for Gene, Paul and the rest of the costumed crew.
Show Dog Nashville’s Toby Keith takes an American Ride to a #3 bow, with 90k, as Columbia’s Barbra Streisand and Roc Nation/Atlantic’s Jay-Z round out the Top 5.
Capitol Nashville country star Luke Bryan is Doin’ My Thing with a #7 debut, while Jive/JLG’s Backstreet Boys return with This Is Us at #10. The rest of the Top 10 includes Island/IDJ’s Mariah Carey (#6), Hollywood’s Miley Cyrus (#8) and Fueled by Ramen’s Paramore (#9).
Other chart newcomers include Jive/JLG’s Relient K (#11), Malaco’s BeBe & CeCe Winans (#13), Columbia’s Brandi Carlile (#22), Manhattan/EMI’s Rosanne Cash (#28), Atlantic’s Mayday Parade (#34) and Cherrytree/Interscope’s Tokio Hotel (#38).
Universal Republic’s left-field smash Owl City continues to build on the momentum of the multi-format hit single, “Fireflies,” as the Ocean Eyes album climbs #36-32, up 11%.
Epic’s Michael Jackson Thriller album (#50-44, +5%) and Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum (#44-40, +4%) are also showing upward mobility.
With the release date of Chop Shop/Atlantic’s new The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack moved up to this Friday, the album will be in the mix for #1 next week, depending on how quickly Target, Best Buy and Wal-Mart can stock their shelves, and what Buble does in its first full week. Other new releases in stores this week include J/RMG’s Mario, Arista/RMG’s Barry Manilow In the Swing of Christmas album, RCA/RMG’s Say Anything and Jive/JLG’s Bowling for Soup.
