An indie-rock solo project and a world-class Israeli electronica act are newcomers on this week’s HITS Vibe-Raters rundown on the latest up and comers.

Interpol singer/songwriter Paul Banks takes a busman’s holiday for Julian Plenti, the alias for his just-released Matador album, Julian Plenti Is…Skyscraper. The first track, “Games for Days,” is already getting big ups at Specialty, with early PoMo action at KBZT and WEQX. A video of the track, featuring Metric’s Emily Haines, bows on AOL this week. The Amazon.com “Daily Deal” is buoying strong digital sales. For the full Vibe-Raters entry, go here.

Israeli techno/electronica duo Infected Mushroom prepares to release its second U.S. album, Legend of the Black Shawarma, on Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto label, Sept. 8. Currently touring in Europe, the now L.A.-based act will return to the U.S. in August and tour through November, including dates with Crystal Method on the Electronic Stimulus Package tour. Video was just added to Logo. For the complete entry, click here.
