Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros’ Up From Below, which has been out since last summer on Community Music/Fairfax Recordings is now being worked by Vagrant Records and getting some traction. With a long run at Non-Comm radio, these L.A.-based tribal rockers (fronted by ex-Ima Robot vocalist Alex Ebert) are seeing major love for the single, “Home,” at PoMo stations such as WRXP, WFNX and WROX. Upcoming appearances are scheduled for Noise Pop (2/28), Coachella (6/19) and Telluride Bluegrass (6/19). For the full entry, go here.
Glassnote’s London folk rockers Mumford & Sons are the latest discovery by veteran label exec Daniel Glass, who is basking in his success with Grammy-nominated French technopop sensations Phoenix. The band’s album, Sigh No More, already gold in the U.K. and platinum in Australia, comes out in the States Feb. 26. The spotlight track, “Little Lion Man,” is trending #3 at Specialty, with band featured on World Café, iTunes homepage, Zune Marketplace and NPR’s All Things Considered. Look for sold-out shows at L.A.’s Troubadour (2/9) and N.Y.’s Bowery Ballroom (2/18). See the full entry here.
