MTV UP ON THE DOWNLOAD

Discover and Download Is Networks' Latest New Artist Initiative Across Multiple Formats
MTV is going multi-platform to spread the word on new music.

The network unveiled the latest iteration of Discover and Download, a new initiative for breaking new artists that will involve not just MTV, but MTV2, mtvU, MTV.com and MTV Overdrive.

The first batch of artists includes Artic Monkeys, Rick Ross, Da Backwudz, Flyleaf and Cheyenne with the launch of the show on MTV Overdrive this Monday (4/17).

Discover and Download is designed as a new music resource that takes advantage of MTV's various on-line and on-air platforms by offering free promotional downloads, exclusive live performances, interviews, videos, photos, full live performances on
wireless and more.

Some of the other highlights of Discover and Download include a special Discover and Download Live performance on Ampd' Mobile from the Arctic Monkeys today (4/14) to promote the TV and Internet premiere of the band's concert next Friday (4/21) at 11 p.m. ET on MTV2. The show will feature tracks from their breakthrough first album, as well as an exclusive unreleased track.

*Cheyenne's "Hanging On" (exclusive Discover and Download Live performance)

*Da Backwudz' "I Don't Like the Look of It"

Discover and Download originally premiered on MTV2 in February 2005 as a weekly half-hour video program that gave viewers the opportunity to check out the hottest new artists and download their music for free after every show. Artists who were previously featured on Discover and Download include Avenged Sevenfold, Daddy Yankee, Arcade Fire and Matisyahu.

The video version of Discover and Download was developed from the performance-based version of the show, Discover and Download Live, which debuted in July 2004 and featured performances by My Chemical Romance, Saul Williams, Akon, Secret Machines and Ambulance LTD. After each show, viewers were given the opportunity to download MP3s of the exclusive live performance featured on the show.
