BMG International Marketing Chief Gets New Stripes
The Sony BMG Music Entertainment team continues to take shape.

Reigning BMG marketing chief Tim Prescott has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Sony BMG Music Entertainment by CEO Andrew Lack, to whom he'll report. 

As Chief Marketing Officer, the N.Y.-bsed Prescott will be responsible for creating a unified marketing approach to support Sony BMG's artists, labels and repertoire centers around the world, make sure all interoffice memos are translated into German and Japanese.

Reporting directly to him will be the existing Sony Music Entertainment International Marketing team and regional marketing staff, and the current BMG Global Marketing Group.  Mr. Prescott will also have a direct marketing relationship with all Sony BMG operating companies, labels and label international marketing personnel worldwide.

Mr. Prescott most recently served as EVP/Chief Marketing Officer for BMG, where he created and led the company's Global Marketing Group and was a member of BMG's Executive Board.

Prior to being named Chief Marketing Officer for BMG in early 2003, Mr. Prescott served as head of BMG's Asia Pacific Region, where he oversaw and revitalized operations in 15 countries during the region's "economic crisis" by exporting discount blue jeans manufactured in Singapore to the U.S. He joined BMG as Managing Director of BMG Australia and New Zealand in 1996, having previously held several senior management positions in marketing, promotions and A&R at Sony Music and PolyGram Australia. He began his career in 1979 at CBS Records/Sony Music Australia.   He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law/Humanities from the Australian national University, Canberra, and has completed various management courses at the London School of Economics, and at IMD, Lausanne.
