Sophomore Disc Hitting Marks, with Slipknot Also Making a Strong Showing
As sales reports continue to overheat the reel-to-reel computer banks in the HITS Retail Data Processing Center, early word coming out of the Memorial Day Weekend is that Avril Lavigne’s Under My Skin (Arista/RMG) will indeed cross the 350k mark in its first week of release.
The huge, soon-to-be #1 album was trending up by the end of last week, and before the chart is finalized this afternoon, the numbers are expected to show that the trend held up through the weekend.
Slipknot’s Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) (Roadrunner/IDJ) also still appears to be besting predictions from early last week, with reports pointing to an impressive 275k first week, lining it up for a big #2.
The above two major chart debuts will squeeze Usher’s Confessions (LaFace/ZLG) down to #3 after an incredible eight-week run at #1.
