The move continues BMG’s ongoing restructuring of U.S. operations under North America Chairman/CEO Clive Davis and could signal further changes are imminent. With the departure of Arista chief L.A. Reid in January, insiders have suggested that the label (to which RCA Victor had been attached) would soon be merged with either Jive or RCA.
RCA Sr. VP, Worldwide Marketing Jeb Hart will oversee day-to-day operations of RCA Victor, reporting to RCA’s EVP/GM Richard Sanders and EVP A&R Ashley Newton. RCA Victor EVP/GM David Weyner has stepped down to pursue outside opportunities, according to a company release.
"Under this new structure, the RCA Victor Group will maintain its independent culture while benefiting from the depth of RCA Records' A&R and management strength. I am confident that under Jeb's leadership, the RCA Victor Group will continue to prosper,” said Goldstuck. “I'd like to thank David for his invaluable contribution over the years and wish him success in his future endeavors."
