BUTTERFLY FLOATS, STINGS BOX OFFICE

Ashton Kutcher Not Just a Punk
It’s not going to win any Golden Globes, but Ashton Kutcher’s The Butterfly Effect did rake in $17.1 million at the box office, which is pretty golden. And his movie did better than fellow That ’70s Show castmate Topher Grace’s Win a Date With Tad Hamilton. That’s awesome!

Butterfly took a critical beating, but actual people probably wanted to see if Demi Moore’s boyfriend could act. The movie knocked last week’s #1, Along Came Polly, from the top spot, though that flick too in another $16.6 million. Tad Hamilton brought in $7.5 million, good enough for third place for the movie, which also stars Kate Bosworth and Josh Duhamel.

Here’s the rest of the Top 10: 1. #3 Big Fish ($7.3m); #4 Big Fish ($7.3m); #5 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($6.85m); #6 Cheaper by the Dozen ($6.6m); #7 Cold Mountain ($5m); #8 Torque ($4.4m); #9 Something’s Gotta Give ($4.1m); #10 Mystic River ($3.1m).
