DEPP GOES DEEP

Has Both Once Upon a Time and Pirates of the Caribbean in the Top Five
He may have been Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Hunter Thompson and Ichabod Crane, but he’ll always be Tom Hanson 21 Jump Street heartthrob to us.

Johnny Depp has the top movie of the week, as Once Upon a Time in Mexico, also starring Antonio Banderas, debuted with $24 million, and in a rare feat, Depp also has the number five flick of the week with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the second highest-grossing movie of the summer. Finding Nemo was the top draw this summer.

In second place was Nicolas Cage’s con man flick, Matchstick Men with $13.3 million. The horror film Cabin Fever came in third with $8.5 million. Last week’s #1, Dickie Roberts, dropped to fourth with $5 million, as all of the cameo actors appearing in it saw it the week before.

Here’s the rest of the Top 10: #6 Freaky Friday ($4.1m); #7 Jeepers Creepers 2 ($3m); #8 Open Range ($2.8m); #9 S.W.A.T. ($2.8m); #10 Seabiscuit ($2.7m).
