METALLICA GOES LIVE ONLINE

New Site Offers Concert Downloads Just Days After Shows, and Almost Before Kazaa
You can’t get them on Napster or iTunes, but Metallica has finally authorized selling its digital music online. The group has pacted with CinemaNow and Nugs.net to sell complete concert MP3s of its live shows, just days after the concerts.

Fans will be able to download audio of entire sets from Metallica’s North American tour, kicking off today in Phoenix, will be for sale at www.livemetallica.com. The high quality, unedited soundboard recordings will be sold in MP3s and FLAC files. After being downloaded, shows can be burned to CD, transferred to portable players or played on computers. Which means they’ll show up on Kazaa in no time. Every show comes with printable booklets and labels. Each show will be about two hours long.

The cost is $9.95 for the MP3s and $12.95 for high-quality FLAC files. Nugs.net is the company behind both Phish’s livephish.com and livedownloads.com, which sells live sets from The String Cheese Incident, among others.
