All y’all move the hell out the way, ’cause it’s time to make room for a lanky, guitar-slinging kid who’s got the goods, by jiminy.
That’s right: Aware/Columbia’s John Mayer is back and making a big noise at the cash registers after one day in the streets. According to early reports from national accounts, his latest collection, Heavier Things, is on track to sell around 300k for the week.
Mayer is currently riding the major success of single “Bigger Than My Body” at radio, expanding his already burgeoning fan base. Heavier Things will easily top next week’s album chart.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros.' Seal is back from an extended absence, and his Seal IV appears headed for a first week of over 50k, which could give it a shot at the Top 10 on next week’s chart.
And then there’s Clay Walker, the latest release from the Nashville’s red-hot RCA Label Group. His A Few Questions is likely to approach 50k for the week, primarily driven by rack sales.
