MATRIX REVOLUTIONIZES BOX OFFICE

Beats Elf, but Will Ferrell Still Funnier Than Keanu Reaves
Despite bringing in less than half the dollars as the second movie in the Matrix trilogy, The Matrix Revolutions did $50.2 million over the weekend to handily win the box office. Whoa.

Pounded both by the critics and cha-troom geeks, the movie did break the worldwide record with $204 million in five days in release in 109 countries—which we’ll name at the bottom of this article.

Also opening this weekend was Will Ferrell’s Christmas flick, Elf, which opened in second with $32.1 million. Ferrell stars as a human raised with Santa’s elves, who is told of his true identity and moves in with his father, James Caan, with hilarity ensuing. Hope we’re not giving too much away.

In narrower release was Love Actually, which debuted at #6 with $6.6 million.

Here’s the rest of the Top 10: #3 Brother Bear ($18.6m); #4 Scary Movie 3 ($11.1m); #5 Radio ($7.4m); #7 Mystic River ($4.83m); #8 (tie) Runaway Jury and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre ($4.8m); #10 The School of Rock ($3.15m).
