Likewise, Ludacris project Disturbing tha Peace, feeling the sun a little lower in the sky and the leaves beginning to change, will chart with over 100k units of Golden Grain (Def Jam South/IDJ) moved over the counter. Meanwhile, Stanley Climbfall, the new one from Lifehouse (DreamWorks), joins the rest of us in sensing that the days are beginning to grow shorter, and will enter the chart with upwards of 90k sold in recognition thereof.
In radioland, where they really couldn’t care less about seasons or the tilt of the earth’s axis because those people never go outside, the big Top 40 news is about the return of Santana, whose collaboration with Michelle Branch, "The Game of Love" (Arista) will likely earn the most adds this week and looks like a bona-fide monster. Also raking ’em in will be Missy Elliott’s "Work It" (Elektra), though the add date may experience an 11th-hour change.
Next week should be a doozy, given that both Matchbox Twenty’s "Disease" (Atlantic) and Mariah Carey’s "Through the Rain" (Island/IDJ) are due to be delivered to Top 40 on Wednesday.
In Crossover, the big kahuna looks like Irv Gotti, whose "The Pledge" from Irv Gotti Presents The Inc. (Murder Inc./Def Jam) will receive mad radio love, as will Tweet’s, "Smokin’ Cigarettes" (Elektra). Look for cleanup on Mario’s "Braid My Hair" (J) and Clipse’s "When the Last Time" (Arista), which continues to break.
In Post Modern, look for 3 Doors Down’s "When I’m Gone" to gather the most adds, since Pearl Jam’s "I Am Mine" (Epic) is pretty much closed out already, even though this is the official, label-sanctioned add week. Seems all those nutty ’Jam fans demanded radio go early, bless their hearts. Also look out for Trapt, whose "Headstrong" (Warner Bros.) will also make a "strong" showing.
See you in the pumpkin patch, pookie.
