"I am thrilled to be part of that group, and look forward to working with him in making Lava even more competitive in the marketplace."

VELASQUEZ BOILS OVER AT LAVA

Veteran Promo Exec Named Sr. VP at Flom’s Atlantic Label
She’ll be on a first-name basis from now on with both Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker.

"Mona" Lisa Velasquez has been appointed Senior Vice President of Promotion for Jason Flom’s newly revitalized full service recording company Lava Records.

Based at the label’s NYC headquarters, Velasquez will oversee all aspects of promotion for the company, serving as Kid Rock’s wardrobe consultant and working with such other label artists as Uncle Kracker, Authority Zero, Grade 8, Course of Nature and Porcupine Tree, among others.

Commenting on the appointment, Flom said: "Having had the pleasure of working alongside Lisa while at Atlantic Records makes this appointment all the sweeter. Her highly motivated and results-oriented approach, sensitivity to the creative process and leadership skills have brought an uncommon vitality to the many projects she has worked. And she knows the words to every White Lion song. We are all thrilled that she will play a key role on Lava’s management team."

Added Velasquez: "Being a part of the new Lava is a tremendous opportunity. Jason has uniquely demonstrated boldness in driving change, building a world-class record label with an incredible group of executives and artists alike. I am thrilled to be part of that group, and look forward to working with him in making Lava even more competitive in the marketplace. I just wish he’d stop piping Twisted Sister through the office speakers 24 hours a day."

Prior to joining Lava, Velasquez served as VP Pop/Crossover Promotion for Atlantic Records. Her music business career also includes executive stints at EastWest, RCA and Island Records.
