In what is believed to be the first digital-only release in the history of the record biz, Columbia Records will perform the servicing to radio of the new Will Smith track, "Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head)," via the Internet. No physical pro-CDs will be sent out on the track, the first from Smith’s Born to Reign album, which streets June 25.
That’s right, folks, the phrase "On your desk now" may someday soon give way to "On your computer now."
Helming the launch Columbia EVP Promotion Charlie Walk, who, contrary to popular belief, does know how to turn on his PC—although actually going online is iffier for him.
"Black Suits Comin’" will officially be launched this Thursday, May 9 for a May 14 impact date, but you can preview the track and remix get the attendant details by clicking on the link below:
