The EMI and BMG licenses cover all the music for which the labels have digital rights and covers North America users only. The Listen deal is the first time that BMG has licensed its music to a subscription service other than its WMG/EMI/RealNetworks service, MusicNet.
Rhapsody is already covered by an agreement between Listen and the Harry Fox Agency, which was inked last fall (hitsdailydouble.com, 11/14). Listen will pay HFA $500k over the next two years in publishing royalties unless an online standard is set during that time.
Listen says that the deal takes effect immediately.
