BMI HONORS FILM, TV COMPOSERS

Career Achievement Award Goes
To A Guy Named "Snuffy"
In day two of BMI’s nonstop award-fest at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in L.A., the pubbery feted film and TV composers.

TV composer W.G. "Snuffy" Walden received the Richard Kirk Award for outstanding career achievement at BMI's annual Film & Television Awards, held Wednesday (5/16) night. Walden has composed music for "thirtysomething," "The Wonder Years," "The West Wing" and many other programs.

Former Yes-man Trevor Rabin and Edward Shearmur received two film music awards each.

Janet Jackson’s "Doesn't Really Matter," from "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps," was named most-performed song from a motion picture.

Additionally, Walden, Mike Post and David Vanacore earned multiple TV music awards. The past year's Emmy Award winners were also acknowledged at the event.

BMI kicked off award-fest 2001 on Tuesday with its Pop Awards also held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire (hitsdailydouble.com, 5/16).
