"The Beatles supplied the soundtrack for being young in the '60s and in ways that no other band has done, they have touched the lives of successive generations since."

Celebrity Panel Picks "Day In The Life" As Beatles' Greatest
Now we know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

A special panel of celebrity fans picked the Beatles' "A Day In The Life" as the legendary band's greatest song of all-time.

The poll, conducted by the U.K. music magazine Uncut among such Fab Four fans as Paul Weller, Radiohead, R.E.M., Travis, Goldie and Slade's Noddy Holder, pegged "A Day In The Life" as the group's top song ever.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" was #2, edging "I Am The Walrus."

Said Uncut editor Allan Jones: "The Beatles supplied the soundtrack for being young in the '60s and in ways that no other band has done, they have touched the lives of successive generations since. They're second only to Herman's Hermits in my personal pantheon."

The Beatles' "1," which included all the band's chart-topping songs, has now sold 7.3 million OTC in the U.S. alone, while Paul McCartney and Wings' "Wingspan" has sold almost 400k in three weeks. Both albums were released in the U.S. by Capitol Records.
