GREENE AND BEAR IT, PART 17

Grammy Boss Remains Under Fire
Will NARAS boss Michael Greene make it to next February's Grammy Awards ceremony at L.A.'s Staples Center?

As Greene's support among the Board of Trustees—those 41 individuals who ultimately hold the NARAS chief's future in their hands—wanes, the Grammy boss is reportedly refusing to cooperate with the external investigation taking place under the watchful eye of Academy counsel Chuck Ortner.

Meanwhile, label heads have been curiously silent about the sexual harassment and assault charges leveled at Greene. Though many are privately rooting for his fall, no one will speak out for fear of Grammy-time reprisals should the historically resilient NARAS chief survive yet another crisis.

With a reported $650k settlement of NARAS human resources exec Jill Geimer's claims agreed to by a NARAS board that is wavering on its commitment to Greene, several are now questioning Greene's protestations of innocence in light of his stated opposition to an investigation. Some are even saying Greene's plea is beginning to reek of a coverup and will likely alienate more board members.

Meanwhile, Greene has issued an official no-comment, apparently because of the legal proceedings, but promises to address the charges soon in a public forum.
