EMINEM, WIFE SEEK TO END MARRIAGE… AGAIN

Eminem's troubled personal life is again making headlines.

It seems the rapper's tumultuous marriage to Kimberly Mathers is headed to divorce court, after a failed reconciliation attempt.

Lawyers filed for divorce Thursday (3/1) in Macomb County (MI), citing "a breakdown of the marriage relationship ... and [because] there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved," according to several published reports.

The divorce papers request that physical and legal custody of the couple's 5-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade, be jointly awarded to the two parents.

"[Kim] is willing to let Marshall participate in the raising of Hailie," said her lawyer, Robert Feldstein. "She believes that both parents should be involved, as long as he continues to communicate and cooperate with Kim in a manner designed to serve the best interests of their daughter." Observers note that Kim really doesn't want to communicate with the Real Slim Shady, she just wants to make sure those alimony and child support checks arrive on time.

Kim's asking that all of the couple's financial assets be frozen until they have reached a divorce agreement and settlement leads onlookers to speculate that money is indeed a major issue in the proceedings.

"The request is designed to insure that there is no financial mischief and that there is not a sudden transfer of funds between accounts," Feldstein said. "That way everything's on the table prior to the divorce negotiations and court proceedings. That way, we can see what we are entitled to."
