Shriver, Nadler Break Out Of Nashville-Based Label With Help Of Large, Silent Indian Chief

Asylum Records President Evelyn Shriver and her A&R chief, Susan Nadler, Friday (1/5) resigned from their respective posts, just 10 months after Warner Music Group moved control of Asylum from Elektra to Warner Bros.

Their departures were described by WMG as amicable.

Shriver, the only female label head in Nashville, has said in recent years that pop music's influence on country music has contributed to the genre's decline. Her opinion was confirmed by year-end sales figures, which showed that country music sales were down 3% in 2000 while overall music sales were up almost 3%. It was the second consecutive year of declining sales for the genre.

Shriver, who hopes to start her own independent label, joined Asylum in 1989.
