About 9 million fans Tuesday (11/28) went online to see Madonna's first British concert in seven years.
The audience for the 29-minute performance at London's Brixton Academy set a record for this type of events, according to Microsoft's MSN.
Being that the show was held in a small club, only about 2,800 people attended in person. Mick Jagger, Kylie Minogue and Sting were among the celebrities who turned up for the event.
MSN said the audience was three-times larger than the Paul McCartney Webcast a year ago at The Cavern in Liverpool.
NetAid had previously claimed the biggest-ever Internet audience of 2.49 million during a trio of charity concerts in October 1999.
