German company Hit Bit Software sued AOL Germany in 1998 alleging its MIDI files were being traded through an AOL online forum, and in April, a German court found AOL Germany liable.
The court ruled Friday (3/9) that AOL Germany, which provided a forum three years ago that let people post and download material, must pay unspecified damages for those copyright infractions. The service has since been removed.
An appeal from AOL is expected.
