"With two singles blowing up simultaneously, [Shaggy] is one project that is only getting stronger."
——Ken Feldman, HMV

SHAGGY WON’T SAG, AS LUDACRIS, CRAZY TOWN CRASH TOP 10

"Hotshot" Continues At #1 As Beatles Climb Back To #2
Any question about the dominant album of the first quarter was definitively answered this week.

Shaggy is still on top, and it doesn't look like he's leaving any time soon.

"It's just remarkable," said Ken Feldman of HMV, who was referring to his newfound ability to walk and chew gum simultaneously, but we figured we'd use it as a Shaggy quote. "With two singles blowing up simultaneously, this is one project that is only getting stronger."

And if that isn't enough to wet Ken's G-string, those nutty kids at MTV have just received Shaggy's "Angel" video and have thrown it directly into heavy rotation.

"That will definitely impact sales further," said the Kenster, as he accidentally took a bite of his Scotch-tape dispenser.

Behind the Shagmeister are those persistently mindboggling Beatles (Capitol), who climb back to #2, followed by Hollywood's "Save The Last Dance" ST at #3, Epic's Jennifer Lopez at #4 and new Top Five member Dido (Arista) at #5.

"My girlfriend couldn't live with me if it wasn't for her Dido," said the spelling-impaired Feldman.

But if that ain't wacky enough, check out Island/Def Jam's dynamic duo of Ja Rule at #8 and Ludacris at #9, as they prove that rap LPs can have legs on the album chart when singles are worked effectively at radio.

A real sleeper is Mercury Nashville's surprise let-field smash, the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"soundtrack album, which has climbed to #16 thanks to the Soggy Bottom Boys' cover of "Man of Constant Sorrow," pleasing all those attracted to albino, cross-eyed banjo pickers who happen to be their father, er brother, er father.

And if there's a lull in the rock world, don't tell Columbia, as it continues to build a remarkable story with Crazy Town. This week, the album jumps into the Top 10, with no end in sight.

"They've done an amazing job with Crazy Town," said Feldman, who was recently handpicked to pilot submarines off the coast of Honolulu after coaching Elizabeth Taylor on her next awards show appearance. "So far, this one is the breakout band of the year."
