GetMusic has linked with Liquid Audio to integrate Liquid’s catalog of paid music downloads and streaming previews throughout its site. Liquid offers more than 70,000 singles from 1,000 labels, in a variety of music codecs. GetMusic is a joint online venture of BMG Entertainment and the Universal Music Group.
This isn’t the first time Liquid and GetMusic have united for a venture; Liquid previously worked with GetMusic on its promotional download initiatives.
The downloads are expected to be up on the GetMusic site by early summer.
In other strategic pairing news, The Orchard, a supplier of independent music to Internet retailers, has inked a deal to offer its catalog as downloads via RioPort Inc. Songs and albums from the Orchard’s catalog will be sold through RioPort’s network of online distribution partners, which include MTVi Group, Ministry of Sound, House of Blues Digital and iCast.
Also, digital rights clearinghouse service Reciprocal has formed a partnership with digital encoder Loudeye Technologies. Under the partnership, both companies will be able to offer their services to each other’s client base. Companies which have used Loudeye’s technology include BMG Entertainment, EMI Recorded Music and Sony.
