Highly Coveted Singer Makes Her Label Decision
Songstress-actress and Tommy Hilfiger model Aaliyah will move to Virgin Records with Barry Hankerson's Blackground Records.

Blackground had a joint-venture deal with Atlantic Records, which was recently terminated.

Blackground has inked a co-venture label deal with Virgin, according to the EMI Records Group label.

Inside sources say the young singer signed with Virgin after being impressed by the label's handling of the "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack, which features four Aaliyah tracks, including chart-topper "Try Again." Aaliyah also stars in the film.

Atlantic representatives were unavailable for comment at press time. Virgin is expected to issue a press release next week.
