VIVENDI, SEAGRAM BEGIN MUSIC SYNERGY PLAN

French Superstar Johnny Hallyday’s New Album Being Hyped Via Cell Phone
In what could be a blueprint for things to come, Seagram, through its Universal Music Group, and purchaser Vivendi have teamed to promote a new album by French superstar Johnny Hallyday with cell-phone operator Cegetel, which is partially owned by Vivendi.

When the three-day promotion ends, the French company's SFR service will have sent nearly 2 million cell phone messages to subscribers regarding the album "100% Johnny, Live A La Tour Eiffel," being released today (6/30) by UMG's Mercury Records France.
