"EMusic is a great company and I am excited about the opportunities for developing the digital distribution of our music. They are setting the standard for distribution of music on the Internet with a dedication to independent bands and labels."

LOOKOUT PUNKS UP THE VOLUME AT EMUSIC, RED

NoCal Acts Like Green Day, The Donnas and Mr. T Experience Now Available Online
Seminal Berkeley, CA, punk label Lookout!, home of early Green Day, The Donnas, Mr. T. Experience and pre-Rancid ska band Operation Ivy, among others, has inked a pair of agreements for their catalog with EMusic.com and RED Distribution.

Said Lookout! President Christopher Appelgren: "EMusic is a great company and I am excited about the opportunities for developing the digital distribution of our music. They are setting the standard for distribution of music on the Internet with a dedication to independent bands and labels. They have their foot in the future and Lookout! is the toe… Whaddya mean all our stuff's available on Napster for free?"

EMusic's move comes in the wake of 20% of the company's work force being laid off last week. The company boasts over 100,000 tracks for purchase at 99 cents apiece or entire albums for $8.99. The company's group of Web sites includes Rolling Stone.com, DownBeatJazz.com and IUMA.

Lookout! was established in 1988 by spotlighting hard-core punk bands from Oakland and Berkeley, including the earliest recordings of Green Day and Rancid. They have also worked with Samiam, Neurosis, Blatz, the Queers and Pansy Division. The group was previously distributed by San Francisco-bsed punk specialist Mordam Records.
