RADIO CHART PREVIEW: NEXT WEEK’S NEWS TODAY

A Glimpse at the Movers on Mediabase’s Top 40, Rhythmic and Alternative Charts
It’s time once again to read the tea leaves and tell you what action you’ll be seeing on three key Mediabase charts next week. It's like time travel, but less mind-blowing.

TOP 40
Star Trak/Interscope
’s Robin Thicke holds onto #1 for another week, retaining a 1500x lead on #2 Maroon 5 (A&M Octone). Capitol’s Capital Cities is having a nice week, up 700x, as "Safe And Sound" moves closer to the Top 5. RCA’s Miley Cyrus will enter the Top 10 with the twerking-class anthem "We Can’t Stop."

Capitol’s Katy Perry and Interscope’s Lady Gaga are both having a boffo week, as both the former’s "Roar" and the latter’s "Applause" will be up over 1000x and will soon enter the Top 10 and beyond. PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii is on fire with "Wake Me Up," which looks to gain 1200x and zoom to #19. Lorde’s "Royals" (Lava/Republic) will enter the chart at an impressive #29, gaining nearly 1000x for the week.

RHYTHMIC
What surprises do the MTV VMAs have in store for us this weekend? Whatever developments come straight outta Brooklyn, you can be sure that featured performer Drake’s "Hold On, We’re Going Home" (YM/CM/Republic) will have powered its way into the Top 10 in under three weeks. J. Cole’s "Crooked Smile" (Roc Nation/Columbia) jumps into the Top 5, and Chris Brown f/Nicki Minaj "Love More" (RCA) goes Top 15. Big Sean’s "Beware" (G.O.O.D./Def Jam/IDJ), Miley Cyrus’ "We Can’t Stop" (RCA) and Katy Perry’s "Roar" (Capitol) all continue their ascent on the chart. Rich Homie Quan’s "Type of Way" (Think It’s a Game) and Macklemore’s "White Walls" (Macklemore/ADA/WB) will both debut this week.

ALTERNATIVE
Lava/Republic’s Lorde is set to enjoy a third week at # 1 with her smash, "Royals." RCA’s Kings of Leon will enter the Top 10 with "Supersoaker." Glassnote’s Phoenix and Tame Impala (Modular/Interscope) inch closer to the Top 10. Cage The Elephant’s "Come A Little Closer" (RCA) is up over 200x and quickly arrives in the Top 15. The latest singles from The Neighbourhood (Columbia) and Matador’s Queens of the Stone Age are on the verge of charting.
