“LINES” ALL AROUND!

“Robin Thicke has a big dick,” goes a slogan in the controversial unrated video for the Star Trak/Interscope star’s megahit “Blurred Lines.” Whatever the size of his actual equipment, no one can deny that the man has a big record.

His album (also called Blurred Lines) debuts at #1 on our Album Sales Chart this week with 174k. It’s a career best for Thicke, who sold 137k in his leadoff week with 2008’s Something Else.

The #2 spot belongs to Prospect Park rockers Five Finger Death Punch, who scared up a high-water mark of their own with 113k (their previous sales peak was 91k).

#3 Jay Z, who moved 61k (-18%), is the only non-debut in the Top 5. He’s followed by bows from Strange Music’s Tech N9ne (55k, just shy of his 57k first-week best)—whose new album, oddly enough, is also called Something Else—and BSB’s Backstreet Boys (50k).

SYCO/Columbia lads Emblem3 debuted at #7 with 41k. And the remaining debuts in the Top 20? Well, they come from such up-and comers as Columbia’s Billy Joel (#13, 17k) and ABKCO’s The Rolling Stones (#17, 16k). These classic-rock titans saw greatest-hits packages sell like hotcakes on iTunes, thanks to a $6.99 sale. Think that price point is a sweet spot for key catalog?

As for the chart’s continuing titles, Disney’s Teen Beach soundtrack finished at #6 with 45k (-16%); last week’s #1, Hollywood’s Selena Gomez, dipped 68% with 30k to finish at #8, while Republic Nashville’s Florida Georgia Line (#9, 27k, -6%) and KidinaKorner/Interscope’s Imagine Dragons (#10, 26k, -2%) were closer to flat. The week’s biggest gainers were Dualtone’s The Lumineers, who picked up 16% with sales of 9k for a #37 finish.

Streeting today are sensibility/Columbia’s The Civil Wars, who occupy the #1 spot at iTunes at the time of this writing, and UMe’s Now 47.

In a related story, first-week sales of Instant Coma placed it at #1 on the chart of new strains at the UMPG dispensary.
