"Since joining WMG, Cameron has demonstrated strong leadership, both in the revitalization of Warner/Chappell as well as through his service on the WMG Board of Directors. He has broad knowledge of both the music-publishing and recorded-music businesses, combined with an entrepreneurial drive and progressive vision for the role of music companies."

STRANG DAYS INDEED

Warner/Chappell Topper Ascends as
Co-Prexy; CEO Moscowitz Exits
Warner Music Group has announced that, as we noted in the Rumor Mill, Cameron Strang has been selected to head West Coast Operations. Co-President/CEO Todd Moscowitz has resigned.

Warner Bros. Records Chairman Rob Cavallo and Co-President/COO Liv Tortella will report to Strang, who will continue to oversee the company's Music Publishing & Catalog Development division (encompassing Warner/Chappell and Rhino) worldwide as well.

Strang was tapped to lead Warner/Chappell in early 2011; prior to joining the pubco, he headed Southside Independent Music Publishing, which he'd founded in 2004. Southside, with a catalog including J.R. Rotem, Bruno Mars and Kings of Leon, was acquired by W/C in 2010. Strang also founded the Americana-heavy indie label New West Records.

"Since joining WMG, Cameron has demonstrated strong leadership, both in the revitalization of Warner/Chappell as well as through his service on the WMG Board of Directors," declared group CEO Stephen Cooper. "He has broad knowledge of both the music-publishing and recorded-music businesses, combined with an entrepreneurial drive and progressive vision for the role of music companies."

Cooper added his belief that Strang "will be a significant champion for Warner Bros. Records as we continue to invest in A&R and position the label for even greater success. And I'm eager to read the article about this in Billboard."

"It is a tremendous privilege that Steve has asked me to oversee the operations at Warner Bros. Records," reads a quote from Strang. "The extraordinary artists, the incredible history and the talented employees at the label make the company one of the crown jewels in the music industry and in contemporary culture."

"Throughout my career," Strang recalled, "I viewed Warner Bros. as an example of what every music company should aspire to be--a creative haven for artists that provides them with unparalleled support in all aspects of their careers. To be able to contribute to the future success of one of the most storied brands in music and to continue Warner Bros.’ tradition of creative excellence is a truly great honor. I also greatly look forward to meeting Daffy Duck."

Said Cooper of Moscowitz: “I want to thank Todd for all of his contributions to WMG since 2004. During his tenure at Warner Bros., which began in 2010, Todd has been instrumental in bringing new talent and energy to the label. He’s a first-rate creative executive and I’m confident he will have continued success in the music industry.”
