PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii closes out at radio with another 27 adds for the monster hit “Wake Me Up.”

RADIO CHART REVIEW

What Just Happened at Pop and Alternative Radio, Courtesy of the Fine Folks at Mediabase

Hey, kids! Let's debrief the action at two key Mediabase formats this week. Doesn't the word "debrief" sound better than "rehash"? We think so too.

TOP 40
Hollywood’s Selena Gomez has the #1 most added song in the land with “Slow Down” as bellwethers Z100 N.Y. and KIIS L.A. join in. Lava/Republic’s Lorde crosses over the 100 station mark with her smash single “Royals.” Aftermath/Interscope's Eminem arrives at radio and picks up 28 stations in its first day with "Berzerk." PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii closes out at radio with another 27 adds for the monster hit “Wake Me Up.” Other top performers included Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” (YM/CM/Republic) as that closes in on 100 stations and the latest singles from Epic’s Avril Lavigne and Columbia’s Daft Punk.

ALTERNATIVE
RCA’s Cage The Elephant essentially closes out the rest of the panel on their new hit, “Come A Little Closer,” which is the #1 most added song at Modern Rock this week. Warner Bros. has a breakthrough week with Swedish import NONONO’s “Pumpin Blood.” Republic’s AFI has another nice week with “17 Crimes.” Columbia’s MS MR appears to be on it’s way as “Hurricane” picks up 5 new stations! Other winners include Virgin’s Thirty Seconds to Mars, XL’s Vampire Weekend and Columbia’s The Neighbourhood.

Speaking of re: hash, to find out what happened to us over the last 27 years, check out the upcoming HITS 27th Anniversary Issue. But be warned: It ain't pretty.
