It’s the first #1 album for the band since 2007’s Infinity on High, which debuted in February of that year with 260k, and has gone on to sell 1.4 million in the U.S. Save Rock and Roll is the band’s first album since 2008’s Folie a Deux, after which the band took some time out to pursue solo projects.
Republic’s Kid Cudi debuts at #2 with smokin’ title Indicud, which sells 140k. His previous effort, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. label through Universal Motown, debuted at #3 with 169k sold in Novenber 2010.
RCA’s Justin Timberlake (#3), Warner Bros. Nashville’s Blake Shelton (#4) and Republic Nashville’s The Band Perry (#5) round out the leaders, the latter giving Monte Lipman’s labels two of the Top 5.
Interscope’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs (#7) are the other newcomers to the Top 10, which also includes Arista Nashville’s Brad Paisley (#6), YM/CM/Republic’s Lil Wayne (#8), Macklemore’s Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (#9) and RCA’s P!nk (#10).
Other new Top 50 entries are Reach’s Andy Mineo (#11), Simha's Sarah Brightman (#16), Syco/Columbia’s Olly Murs (#18), Nonesuch’s Iron & Wine (#25), Atlantic’s Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y EP (#27), Soul Temple’s Ghostface Killah (#29), Warner Bros.’ The Flaming Lips (#30), Secretly Canadian’s Major Lazer (#35), Republic’s Ghost B.C. (#40) and Legacy Recordings’ Willie Nelson (#49).
Top gainers of the week include Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (#15-9, +12%) and Fueled by Ramen’s Fun. (#25-19, +12%).
