What’s the biggest issue facing country music?
Lack of diversity. As someone who works in both hip hop and country music, the lack of diversity at Nashville labels with the artists they choose to sign is glaring. At this point, the success of artists like Kane Brown, Darius Rucker and Jimmie Allen should prove that the companies that make these decisions need to continue to be more open-minded about diversity in their signings. That would help Nashville be the beneficiaries of signing acts like Lil Nas X and BRELAND, who used country music to launch their careers

Who’s your pick for Entertainer of the Year and why?
Luke Combs
. He continues to have a monster run. The man makes perfect country radio songs, knows his fanbase probably better than anyone right now and never changes who he is. He gives it 100% onstage, with a massive vocal performance every time.

What are you listening to?
King Sunny Ade, The Eagles, Tyler Childers.

What’s the biggest challenge ahead?
Maintaining and/or rebuilding momentum. A year away from fans, from live touring, from being able to shoot music videos, meet radio folks, congregate as a team—these are all going to result in a slowing of momentum for our clients. We are trying to be as creative as possible to keep the momentum going through unconventional releases, more frequent social content, livestreams and more, but nothing can replace the ripple effect that comes from live touring.
