PARTON, SPOTIFY TEAM UP FOR LAUNCH OF COUNTRY ICONS PLAYLIST
8/15/16

Kirt Webster, John Marks, Dolly and manager Danny Nozell

Spotify’s soon-to-launch New Traditions/Country Heroes playlist will focus on new music from the genre’s still-active iconic artists, including Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire and George Strait. The playlist will feature five tracks from Dolly’s Pure & Simple, dropping this Friday (8/19).

New Traditions/Country Heroes was co-created by Spotify’s in-house country guru, John Marks, and Dolly’s longtime publicist, Kirt Webster (whose Nashville-based firm reps more than 50 artists), in an effort to create a home for legacy country acts on the service. The collaborators have come up with north (you’ll pardon the expression) of four hours of hand-picked tracks.

“The New Traditions/Country Heroes is a playlist where legacy artists making current music can be heard anytime on demand,” Marks noted. “I have nothing but admiration and respect for all of the artists represented in this list, and Spotify is proud to provide this platform to those who are still out there on the road and making great music."

“It’s really important to keep up with the times,” said Dolly, “and I’m thrilled to bring the fans these Pure & Simple songs. They come from the heart, and I sure hope everyone enjoys them.”
