THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

I had the privilege of attending the iHeart Festival in Las Vegas this past weekend. It was another amazing show—smooth, well run and, as usual, packed with stars. For me personally, Friday's highlights included Sia and Drake. Sia had the crowd from the beginning, and never let go. She had a group of young dancers that were mesmerizing, holding everyone captivated. Drake was Drake. A lot of profanity, but you know he commands respect on stage and fires off hit after hit. Saturday's portion included Britney Spears opening, with G-Eazy joining her on stage. Pitbull was his usual self, full of energy and doing multiple hits. Usher was amazing as well. All in all, a very exciting two days and not a lot of sleep.

Segueing to the chart, Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness take Major Lazer f/ Justin Bieber and MO’s “Cold Water” (Mad Decent) Top 5. Kanye West f/Kid Cudi’s “Father Stretch My Hands”(G.O.O.D.) moves to #9, gaining 230 spins. They also impacted the new Kanye, “Fade,” last week, and it was up 180 spins and lands at #45. It is sure to debut this coming week. DJ Mustard f/Nicki Minaj and Jeremih’s “Don’t Hurt Me” (Roc Nation) lands at #32, and Desiigner’s “Timmy Turner” (G.O.O.D.) moves 39-36, gaining 95 spins. Logic’s “Flexicution” holds at #41. They are impacting Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) this week.

Republic’s Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole hold Drake f/Rihanna’s “Too Good” (YMCMB) at #1 this week. Kungs & Cookin’ on 3 Burners’ “This Girl” (Casablanca) moves to #20, gaining 110 spins, and they debut Ariana Grande f/Nicki Minaj’s “Side To Side” at #33 this week. It was the highest debut. They also blow out The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (XO). In a short few days, it gains 780 spins, good enough for #35! It’s safe to say this is another monster for him. Amine’s “Caroline” has an amazing week, tacking on 280 spins and landing at #44. This record continues to buzz and the streams and sales are very impressive. Post Malone f/Justin Bieber’s “Déjà vu” sees an increase of 265 spins, landing it at #47. This one is on pace for a debut next week as well.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White have The Chainsmokers f/Halsey’s “Closer” (Disruptor)inching toward Top 5. It comes in at #8 this week, seeing an increase of 455 spins. Beyonce’s “Hold Up” is at #18, thanks to a 315-spin jump. New artist Russ leaps inside the top 25, to #22; “What They Want” had a 270 spin increase. They impacted Calvin Harris “My Way” last week, and it is up 180 spins. They look to continue grabbing new stations and debuting in the next two weeks.

RCA’s Inca and Lori G have Tinashe’s “Superlove” at #27, and debut Rob $tone’s “Chill Bill” at #37. It was up a solid 150 spins. Afrojack f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “Gone” is up 50 spins as they look to grab a few new stations this week.

Epic’s Sujit Kundu continues to build the DJ Khaled f/Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown’s “Do You Mind” (We The Best). It climbs inside the top 15, tacking on a very healthy 450 spins. The real success story is Young Thug & Travis $cott’s “Pick Up The Phone.” It was moving very slow for a number of weeks, but the sales and streams have proven it to be real, and this week it is up 180 spins. It moves #37-#30. Jidenna’s “Little Bit More” picked up New York this past week, and it is at #50. They impacted Kent Jones “Alright” (We The Best) last week, which comes in at #71. They are looking for another handful of commitments this week.

Dixie Tipton and Capitol see Lil Yachty’s “1 Night” (QC/Motown) shoot #36-31, thanks to an increase of 170 spins. This is gaining more buzz each week.
