YOUR RADIO CHART PREVIEW

It's too close to call as to whether Childish Gambino's "Redbone" (Glassnote) will rise from #3 to #1 this week, since DJ Khaled's "I'm The One" (We The Best/Epic) is currently occupying the top spot—but knocking him out could be a matter of 50 spins or less. Meanwhile, French Montana's "Unforgettable" (Epic) and DJ Khaled's other heat-seeker "Wild Thoughts" featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller (We The Best/Epic), continue to explode. Def Loaf's "No Fear" (Columbia) will have a 500+ spin increase again this week, and will be the highest debut on the chart. And look for Fifth Harmony's "Down" f/ Gucci Mane (Syco/Epic) to debut as well.

THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

It’s going to be a strange Fourth of July week for the industry. Many labels are closed on Monday and Tuesday, and radio seems to be doing all their new music and rotations this week, in preparation for the long holiday. I can foresee a number of fringe or “on the bubble” records going away over the next 7-10 days, making room for the next batch of work records… Epic’s DJ Khaled f/Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper & Lil Wayne’s “I’m the One” (We the Best) holds at #1 for another week. Sujit Kundu and company also have French Montana f/Swae Lee’s “Unforgettable” (Bad Boy) moving to #8, gaining 620 new spins. This one’s looking like it could be yet another #1 for the label, in four or five weeks. The only record in his rearview mirror that looks like it may pose a threat is labelmate DJ Khaled f/Rihanna’s “Wild Thoughts” (We the Best). This record was up 1,315 spins, and debuts at #20. At press time, it’s already at #11 on the building chart. Camila Cabello’s “Crying in the Club” (SYCO) moves #34-31, adding an additional 180 spins. Fifth Harmony f/Gucci Mane’s “Down” just misses debuting, coming in at #43. This was up 165 spins. Sujit is also starting to impact Travis Scott’s “Butterfly Effect” (Grand Hustle) this week... Republic’s Gary Spangler and Davey Dee have Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee f/Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” (UMLE/RBMG/Def Jam) at #4. This was up 500 spins, and is making a push for #1 as well. They also welcome The Weeknd’s “Reminder” (XO) to the Top 10. He was up 375 spins. Drake’s “Portland” (YMCMB) comes in at #18, and Liam Payne f/Quavo’s “Strip That Down” has a solid week, moving to #23, up 240 spins... Glassnote’s Childish Gambino continues to amaze with “Redbone.” Nick P and crew see him climb #5-3, gaining 755 spins. It’s looking more and more like it’ll be the next record to reach the #1 position…The future looks bright for Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia, as they debut Russ’ “Me You” at #39 this week. It was up 230 spins. Dej Loaf’s “No Fear” comes out of the box on fire, as she sees a 600-spin increase. She’ll have a huge debut next week! Lecrae f/Tori Kelly’s “I’ll Find You” (Reach) is up 180 spins, good enough for #48 and looking to chart in the next few weeks. They’re impacting Calvin Harris f/Future & Khalid’s “Rollin’” this week. It’s already at #55 and is just getting started… Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim and Noah Sheer continue to grow Logic f/Alessia Cara & Khalid’s “1-800-273-8255,” which leaps #18-12, up 290 spins. David Guetta f/Justin Bieber’s “2U” jumps #37-28, thanks to 460-spin increase. Big Sean’s “Jump Out the Window” is at #24, gaining another 130 spins. And 2 Chainz f/Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz & Jhene Aiko’s “It’s a Vibe” comes in at #49, gaining 85 spins… Over at RCA, Inca and Lori G have Chris Brown “Privacy” at #14, and Kid Ink f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “F With U” (Tha Alumni/88 Classic) at #19, up 150 spins. Wizkid f/Drake’s “Come Closer” (Starboy) comes in at #44, and is still developing. Khalid’s “Young Dumb, and Broke” (Right Hand) has an impressive week, as it increases 230 spins and leaps to #55. SZA f/Travis Scott’s “Love Galore” (Top Dawg) lands at #61, gaining 55 spins. It’s also really moving and reacting at Urban.
