THE BALL STREET JOURNAL

I can remember as a child, when summer started and school ended, that every single day was a blank canvas. I had no idea what the day was, let alone the month or date. You would wake up and eat your cereal while watching cartoons, then run outside to meet your neighborhood friends for whiffleball or the public pool. Those were the days when we didn’t have a single care in the world, other than breaking a window or the sound of your mother yelling your full name at the top of her lungs, of course. As an adult, about the only thing we get to look forward to nowadays is a one-week, overpriced vacation. Summer seems to just blend in with all the responsibilities, bills and commitments. It’s already damn near August and I am yet to even plan my vacation. On the plus side, at least the music continues to somewhat flow.

Sackheim and Dontay at Epic released the new Travis Scott f/Bad Bunny & The Weeknd track, “K-POP.” The goal, besides taking Most Added honors, is to make this a multiformat hit. The single is also the first offering from Scott’s upcoming album, Utopia. They also have DDG’s “I’M GEEKIN” perched at #30 and still picking up new stations each week. Tyla Yahweh’s “SUMMER VIBES” comes in at #45 after scoring 285 more spins. Look for it to debut this coming week.

Over at RCA, Lori G and Inca have Latto’s “Put It on Da Floor” (Streamcut) poised for a Top 5 run, followed by a possible #1. It currently sits at #6 and is up over 600 spins this week. Chris Brown’s “Summer Too Hot” (Chris Brown Ent.) leaps #17-11 as he adds 690 spins to his total. Doja Cat’s “Attention” (Kemosabe) lands at #24 this week, while Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplants” enjoys a triple digit increase and comes in at #42.

Columbia’s Strazza and James White have ICandy’s “Keep Dat” in the Top 20 at #18, while they hold Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar’s “The Hillbillies” at #29 after an increase of 95 spins.

Davey and the Republic team see Post Malone’s “Mourning” (Mercury) climb up inside the Top 10 this week after gaining another 210 spins. The Weeknd’s “Popular” f/Playboi Carti & Madonna (XO) slides up two spots to #12 and adds 150 spins to its total this week. Metro Boomin x NAV x A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s "Calling" f/Swae Lee enters the Top 20 thanks to an increase of 460 spins. The buzz and numbers on this one continues to grow as well.

Over at Capitol, Dixie Tipton has Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj’s “Princess Diana” (10K Projects/Republic) at #1 on the building chart. It should continue and end the week the same way. Meanwhile, Minaj & Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” (Atlantic-Republic-Capitol) tacks on 485 spins and leaps up six spots to #17. The Barbie movie had a tremendous opening box office weekend and that should continue to fuel this one.

Nino and Interscope are still building DaBaby’s “SHAKE SUMN.” He lands at #21 this week after scoring an increase of 190 spins. Byron Messia’s “Talibans” adds nearly 300 spins to his total and ends the week at #32. There was a remix that just dropped that features Burna Boy, which has created an even larger buzz for the track. Also still developing is GloRilla’s “Lick or Sum,” which comes in at #37 this week.
