CROSSOVER
Congratulations are in order for Kevin Cruise, who takes over as PD of KWYD/Boise. Kevin teams up with APD/morning-show host Tony Tecate. Not a lot of movement inside the Top 10 this week… Columbia keeps Beyoncé f/Jay Z’s “Drunk in Love” in its place as the #1 record for a third week. The jump of the week once again goes to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” He was up another 830 spins, and shows no signs of slowing down. Ayelet Schiffman and James White are really doing a bang-up job this quarter. They also have John Legend’s “All of Me” at #13, with an increase of 300 spins, DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” jumping to #20 and up over 200 spins, and the new Beyoncé track, “Partition,” vaulting to #26 and gaining 445 spins. Make sure you spend some time with DJ Cassidy f/Robin Thicke & Jessie J’s “Calling All Hearts,” which they’ll impact in the next few weeks… RCA continues to deliver as Chris Brown’s “Loyal” moves to #9 this week, increasing 220 spins. John Strazza, Inca, and Lori G also have Shakira f/Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You” on the chart at #37 and still developing. They’re impacting Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Main Chick” this coming week. They also have Pitbull f/GRL’s “Wild Wild Love,” which is off and running, Justin Timberlake’s “Not a Bad Thing,” which is just getting started, and am I hearing rumors of a new Usher project? I can’t wait to hear what he comes up with... Lee L’Heureux at Warner Bros. is still grinding away with Jason Derulo f/2 Chainz’s “Talk Dirty.” It’s at #4 this week, and if not for Pharrell, could potentially be a #1. It was up 463 spins this week… Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic also have their ducks in a row. Lorde’s “Team” moves to #8 this week, increasing over 200 spins. SoMo’s “Ride” is right outside the Top 10, and Sage the Gemini’s “Red Nose” is inside the Top 15 and still growing nicely. They also have Martin Garrix’s “Animals” climbing to #28 and gaining 175 spins. This week, they impact Young Money f/Drake’s new “Trophies” and The Chainsmokers’ “#Selfie.” The latter is already a huge buzz record, with Pop and Rhythm stations alike already banging. It’s at #45 already, up almost 250 spins. Look for this to be a high debut this coming week… Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer, and Scott Manness at IDJ have their hands full as Jay Z f/Beyoncé’s “Part II (On the Run)” moves #22-18 and gains 235 spins. Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” is also doing big things, as she moves #29-23 this week, also up over 200 spins. Just outside of the Top 40, Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine (Eternal)” and Ludacris f/Wiz Khalifa, Jeremih & Cashmere Cat’s “Party Girls” look to join the chart this coming week. They impact YG f/Drake’s “Who Do You Love” this week. It’s already Top 25 on the Urban chart. They also have new music from August Alsina and Jeremih coming soon… Sujit Kundu and Epic are looking to debut Kat Dahlia’s “Crazy” this week; it’s now at #41. They’re also gearing up for new stuff from Future, Bando Jonez and Kesington Kross. I still have a number of radio folks asking about Childish Gambino’s “3005” (Glassnote). This record continues to pick up new stations and rotations each and every week. KPWR/Los Angeles moves it to 5-6x a day this week, and it’s showing up on more and more mix shows. Don’t miss out on a potential secret-weapon record.
