The 1975 took home two Ivor Novello Awards at the ceremony honoring the best of British songwriting in London Thursday night. They won Songwriters of the Year for their third album, and Best Contemporary Song for “Love It If We Made It,” published by Good Soldier Songs. Other winners in the main categories included breakthrough band Idles, Ben Howard, Dido and Rudimental.
Wiley was awarded the Inspiration Gong for inspiring a legion of grime artists, while members of Deep Purple were honored for their international achievement. Other big awards went to Richard Ashcroft, for his outstanding contribution to British music, and Mariah Carey, who received a special international award.
